One can define a dark night as that very transition from the world of illusion to that one contrives as real: from lies to truth. And what determines the lies from the truth? The lie is when you are set to be this tiny creation having your beginning and end: a being who is destined to struggle for survival, condemned to oneself, forced to defend oneself against the threat of those that intrude; a creature who demands and plans its own future. A being whose overwhelming task is the simple fact of being.

You are different than you think. For you are created on the image of God, and in fact on that of the resemblance to the Son. For you are from God and for God; but not simply Him but within HIM. Your life is Divine. For you are far more “connected” with God than you could ever imagine.
